Masala Chai Tea
Masala Chai Tea
Masala Chai Tea from Ceylon
Masala Chai Tea is prepared with fresh exotic spices and renowned Dimbula Ceylon Tea according to the traditional recipe.
This is a traditional drink, a trendy mix of black tea and tasty spices, sweetener, as well as milk. "Masala" in Hindi stands for "spices" and "Chai" stands for "Tea."
Chai is commonly accompanied by biscuits, sandwiches, rusk, Samosa, and Onion Pakora.
Each family in Ceylon has a unique method for preparing Masala Tea. The personal choice of combinations of spices, amount of milk and water, and type of tea used determines the strength, flavor, and taste of your truly authentic cup of Masala Chai. Some even add a touch of organic cane sugar or a dash of maple syrup for sweetness.
Ingredients in Chai Tea Bags
Dimbula Ceylon Black Tea, Ceylon Cinnamon, Cloves, Green Cardamom, and Black Pepper, and and even fresh ginger root for a spicy kick.
Dimbula tea is the most recognized tea among Ceylon teas. The special quality of Dimbula Tea comes from the high altitude where the teas are cultivated in the chilly and arid climate of the mountains' western slopes. The finest black teas combined with warm spices make for a truly invigorating cup.
Masala Chai Vs Chai Latte
There is some confusion between these 2 popular drinks. But indeed they are different.
Masala Chai: The Authentic Brew
How do you get this tea? Just boil black tea with warming spices like cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, and ginger. Spices are cooked really slowly to get a rich and intricate flavor out of them. If you want to enjoy this with more convenience, you can also use masala chai concentrate for quicker preparation.
Afterward, the tea is commonly steeped in milk, mixed with organic cane sugar, and served very hot. It's a strong beverage that heats you up internally. It's fantastic for beginning your day or revitalizing your afternoon. For an added twist, try stirring with a cinnamon stick for extra flavor.
Chai Latte: The Western Take
Enter the Chai Latte, a Westernized version that's more about soothing sweetness than spice-forward vigor. Typically, it involves a concentrated shot of spiced tea (often from a syrup or powder) mixed into steamed milk.
The result is creamier and usually milder in flavor compared to traditional Masala Chai. It's popular choice in coffee shops. There are many customizations like extra shots of espresso, a choice of milk, or a topping of frothy foam.
Key Differences
The primary difference lies in preparation and taste. Masala Chai offers a more authentic and intense experience with spices that tingle the palate, brewed fresh with whole ingredients. A Chai Latte provides a smoother, often sweeter sip that caters more to creamy cravings.
So, whether you’re in the mood for the authentic zest of Masala Chai or the creamy comfort of a Chai Latte, both beverages offer a delightful way to enjoy the intricate flavors of spices in your cup. Choose based on how bold or light you want your tea experience to be!
