Muskatnuss wird im hügeligen Zentralceylon angebaut. Die Muskatnuss (Myristica fragrans) stammt ursprünglich von den Molukken in Ostindonesien und wurde Berichten zufolge im frühen 19. Jahrhundert nach Sri Lanka eingeführt. Es handelt sich um einen immergrünen Baum mit einer Höhe von 15 bis 20 m.
