Product Description

Black Peppercorns, with naturally occurring oils that'll add heat and pungency to your food

Black peppercorns from Ceylon are renowned for their high volatile oil content, which makes the spice very pungent. We ship within days of harvest when the essential oils are high. Sri Lankan Pepper has the highest oil content in the world.

DRUERA markets Black Peppercorns in 2 oz, 4 oz, and 16 oz pack sizes, which can be purchased online.

As pepper berries ripen, they turn from green to yellow to red. If the end product is to be black pepper, the berries are picked while still somewhat immature and then dried. The entire berry or peppercorn is used. As the berries dry, the skin wrinkles and turns deep brown or black.

Our black pepper is grown in the wild and could be considered organic. Once harvested, it is sun-dried and vacuum-packed to preserve the essential oils.

Worldwide delivery within 3 - 7 days with online shipment tracking.

What makes Sri Lankan black pepper different from other origins?

Sri Lankan black pepper has the highest volatile oil content in the world, which makes it exceptionally pungent and flavorful.

These essential oils are what give black pepper its characteristic heat and aromatic complexity.

DRUERA ships within days of harvest when the essential oil levels are at their peak, so you're getting pepper with maximum potency.

Customers describe it as "wonderful flavor" and say these are "the best in my pepper grinder."

How is this black pepper grown and processed?

DRUERA black pepper is grown wild in Sri Lanka and can be considered organic since it's cultivated without pesticides or herbicides.

The berries are picked while still somewhat immature, then sun-dried. As they dry, the skin wrinkles and turns deep brown or black.

After drying, the peppercorns are packed to preserve the essential oils. This traditional process combined with modern packaging ensures you receive pepper with vibrant flavor and aroma.

Why do whole peppercorns taste better than pre-ground pepper?

Once pepper is ground, the volatile oils that give it heat and flavor begin to evaporate almost immediately.

Pre-ground pepper from the store may have been sitting on shelves for months or years, losing potency the entire time. Whole peppercorns, especially fresh ones like DRUERA's, retain their essential oils until you grind them.

One customer put it simply: "So fresh I'll never go back." The difference between freshly ground Ceylon pepper and stale pre-ground pepper is dramatic.

What pack sizes are available?

DRUERA offers three sizes: a 2 oz (56g) shaker for convenient everyday use, a 4 oz (114g) jar for regular home cooking, and a 1 lb (453g) bulk option for serious cooks or those who want to stock up.

The shaker is perfect for the table or countertop, while the larger sizes offer better value for filling your pepper grinder. Long-time customers often order the 1 lb size because they know they'll use it.

How should I store black peppercorns for maximum freshness?

Store your peppercorns in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. The vacuum-sealed packaging preserves the essential oils during shipping, but once opened, transferring them to an airtight container will help maintain freshness.

Whole peppercorns stored properly can last for years, though you'll likely use them well before then. Keep your pepper grinder filled and the rest sealed until needed.

How fresh is this pepper, and how quickly will it arrive?

DRUERA ships within days of harvest, when the essential oils are at their highest levels. Orders ship directly from Sri Lanka and typically arrive within 3-7 days with online tracking.

Long-time customers praise the consistent freshness and quality. One customer who has been ordering for years noted: "The spices are fresh, well packed, and delivered promptly... It doesn't get any better than DRUERA."
