Cardamom oil is extracted from hand-picked Green Cardamoms in Sri Lanka. Cardamom oil is steam distilled from the dried fruits of the Cardamom plant, a perennial herbaceous plant indigenous to the south of India and Sri Lanka.

In Sri Lanka, Green Cardamom is cultivated in the central hills in shady areas of forests under carefully controlled conditions. They are found as large-scale plantations and as home garden crops. The mature fruits, which are pods, are hand-picked and dried in barns using a regulated hot air supply. Only in this manner are the widely demanded Lanka Greens (LG) and Lanka Light Greens (LLG) produced.
