What grade of cardamom does DRUERA sell?

DRUERA sells only LG grade green cardamom, which is the highest grade available.

LG stands for "Large Green" and refers to pods that are fully mature, plump, and vibrant green in color with intact seeds inside.

This grade is preferred in the Middle East and West Asian markets, which are the largest importers of cardamom in the world.

The cardamom is grown wild in Sri Lanka (Ceylon) and could be considered organic, though it's not formally certified.

Are these whole pods or ground cardamom?

These are whole green cardamom pods, not pre-ground powder.

Whole pods retain their flavor and aromatic oils much longer than ground cardamom.

To use, you can either add whole pods to dishes (removing them before serving), crush them lightly to release the seeds, or grind the seeds yourself using a mortar and pestle or spice grinder.

Many cooks prefer whole pods because freshly ground cardamom has a significantly more intense and complex flavor than pre-ground versions.
