肉豆蔻生长于锡兰中部的丘陵地带。肉豆蔻（学名Myristica fragrans）原产于印度尼西亚东部的摩鹿加群岛，据报道于19世纪初被引入斯里兰卡。它是一种蔓生常绿乔木，高15-20米。

花通常是单性的，但也有两性花。在种植园中偶尔会看到雌雄同株的树木。果实是肉质的核果，成熟时变黄，裂成两半，露出一颗紫褐色有光泽的种子，周围环绕着一层网状的红色假种皮，称为肉豆蔻核仁。

肉豆蔻树产两种香料：肉豆蔻，即种子的果仁；肉豆蔻皮，即覆盖种子外壳的网状深红色革质增生物（假种皮）。我们的香料均在野外生长，因此可视为有机产品。它们不含杀虫剂和除草剂。

Right product, wrong label

I ordered 1lb Nutmeg in a Shell and it arrived sooner than I expected. Unfortunately, the label states Nutmeg without Shell. It looks like it is in a shell but, to be certain I emailed Druera. They never responded to my inquiry so I only give them 4 stars.
